National Labor Relations Board

Introduction:

The Board administers the Nation’s principal labor law, the National Labor Relations Act. The Board is vested with the power to prevent and remedy unfair labor practices committed by private sector employers and unions and to safeguard employees’ right to organize and determine, through secret ballot elections, whether to have unions as their bargaining representative.
